WELLINGTON AFC has submitted plans for a new stand at the ground to maintain its level five status.

The club was subject to a ground accreditation assessment by the Football Foundation - on behalf of the Football Association - on 19 December 2024.

The subsequent report identified that, in several areas, the club’s facilities “failed the standard for the Club to play at level 5 which includes the Premier Division of the Western League.”

Wellington AFC has been given until the 25 March, 2025, to carry out improvements – which include the implementation of a new stand.

According to a planning statement submitted to Somerset Council, the current stand failed the criteria as it “was deemed that not all spectators could see all four corner flags of the pitch.”

Specialist firms have been contacted by the club and quotations received to provide a 100 capacity open ended, steel framed, cladded stand with a two-tiered concrete base. The cost of a stand of this type could cost the club over £10,000.
