The Welsh Grand National is back today in one of the most-anticipated events of the festive sporting calendar.

The pride of Welsh racing attracts thousands of visitors every year, with some very special winners tasting glory at the event. Native River, Potter's Corner and last year's Nassalam are just some of the big names to have succeeded at the National.

The event was first run in 1895, originally taking place at Ely Racecourse in Cardiff before moving to its current home at Chepstow in 1949.
