West Brom 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday - match report
Jayson Molumby's last-minute goal secured a thrilling 2-1 victory for West Brom over play-off rivals Sheffield Wednesday. Adam Armstrong made an impact on his Baggies debut, scoring in the 74th minute, and it seemed like the hosts were on track for a win.
However, Wednesday managed to level the score four minutes into stoppage time with Callum Paterson finding the back of the net. Just when it seemed like the points would be shared, Molumby converted a Mikey Johnston cross two minutes later to clinch the win for Albion.
The Baggies dominated the early stages, with their first opportunity coming 18 minutes in when Kyle Bartley's flick from a corner found Karlan Grant, who fired over from eight yards out. They came close again shortly after as James Beadle saved a powerful header from Torbjorn Heggem, with Armstrong hitting the post on the rebound.

Despite Albion's control of the first half, Wednesday nearly took the lead before half-time, but Joe Wildsmith was equal to Djeidi Gassama’s low shot. The hosts started the second half strongly, with a quick passing move down the left setting up Grady Diangana, whose shot was blocked by substitute Marvin Johnson, who moments later turned a cross onto his own post.
Wednesday believed they had scored the opening goal against the flow of the game. However, as Gassama was played in and shot across goal past Wildsmith, Albion players appealed for offside.
After referee Tom Nield consulted with his assistant, the goal was disallowed due to Josh Windass being judged to have interfered with play. In an attempt to break the stalemate, Baggies manager Tony Mowbray made some changes which proved fruitful.
At 74 minutes, new loanee Will Lankshear set up fellow substitute Tom Fellows who found Armstrong. The debutant, on loan from Southampton, then volleyed the ball past Beadle's dive.
Wednesday rallied and seemed to have secured a draw when Paterson scored four minutes into added time, following Heggem's block of his initial effort. However, Albion had other plans and snatched a dramatic victory two minutes from time when Molumby's close-range finish from a corner secured all three points for Mowbray's side.
Tensions flared at the final whistle, resulting in a scuffle between both sets of players. West Brom defender Kyle Bartley was shown a red card for appearing to raise an arm towards Wednesday’s Svante Ingelsson.
