West Bromwich Albion could bid farewell to Uros Racic this month - and in doing so it could free up another slot created for overseas signings which they'd be able to fill before the transfer window deadline on Monday evening.

Midfielder Racic, a Serbian international, signed on loan from Italian side Sassuolo in the summer on a season-long agreement. Sassuolo had just been relegated to Serie B and Racic was keen to have a crack at English football, but after a promising start his performances have largely disappointed.

To date, Racic has made 22 appearances in all competitions. He set up Josh Maja's winner against this weekend's opponents Plymouth Argyle at The Hawthorns in September, before he then supplied Karlan Grant in the 1-1 draw at Oxford United, but in more recent months Racic hasn't been able to nail down a regular playing spot.

Hooked at half time by Chris Brunt in the defeat to Derby County on Boxing Day, Racic has made small cameos in the recent home wins over Preston North End and Portsmouth, but Albion - who already had Alex Mowatt, Jayson Molumby and Ousmane Diakite available and have utilised John Swift deeper too - have signed Isaac Price this month.

That could free up Racic to leave Albion this month and, while he mightn't be heading to Serie B and back to parent club Sassuolo, all parties - according to reports in Italy - are working on a solution which suits the clubs and the player. There has been talk of a move to Portugal being on the cards.

Albion are eager to recruit a striker before the transfer window, to help fill the void while Maja and Daryl Dike work their way back from injury. By moving on Racic this month, it would free up a spot for another overseas signing - Albion signed Racic, Diakite, Gianluca Frabotta and Torbjorn Heggem in the summer.
