West Brom make immediate January transfer decision after departure
West Brom have recalled Caleb Taylor from his loan spell at League One high fliers Wycombe Wanderers after they bid farewell to Paddy McNair at the turn of the year. Albion have allowed Taylor to leave for loan spells with Cheltenham Town and Bolton Wanderers before this season in order to gain experience, and this season especially he has made his mark in League One.
Towering centre half Taylor has only made 10 senior appearances for Albion under three different managers, but he has accumulated 76 games away from The Hawthorns since his loan move to Cheltenham in the summer of 2022. At the heart of defence with the Chairboys, though, Taylor has excelled under Matt Bloomfield.
Wycombe are top of League One, ahead of big spending Birmingham City, and have lost just one of their 21 league games. Taylor has been a routine selection at Adams Park; he has made 20 appearances in all competitions and even scored in the 4-1 rout at Shrewsbury Town last month. He's needed back at Albion, though, who are now even lighter in defence after McNair departed as scheduled for MLS.

"We are pleased to have Caleb return to us after such a rewarding spell at Wycombe, where he made a great contribution to their ascent to the top of League One," sporting director Andrew Nestor said. “He is a promising young talent, which was recognised in the summer with a new long-term deal, and we are happy to have him back now to contribute for us in the second half of our season."
Albion, still on the hunt for Carlos Corberan's successor, have Mason Holgate on loan from Everton themselves, while Kyle Bartley and Torbjorn Heggem remain the existing first choice centre halves.
