West Brom next manager latest as talks break down with top candidate
West Brom’s efforts to make Raphael Wicky their new head coach have hit a wall, with news emerging that talks on a deal have ended.
Several outlets, including The Telegraph, are reporting Wicky is no longer in discussions with Albion because of issues over putting together his preferred backroom team. As a result, talks will now resume with ‘other candidates’.

He led Young Boys to the Swiss title and the Swiss Cup in his first season and managed in the Champions League this past season. He left in March of last year.
Albion are now left looking for Carlos Corberan’s replacement, and in the meantime are likely to continue under the stewardship of the caretaker guidance of Chris Brunt, Damia Abella and Boaz Myhill. They next play Stoke City on Saturday after being put out of the FA Cup at Bournemouth last time out.
Names previously linked with the role include ex-Manchester United assistant manager Rene Hake, former Baggies boss Tony Mowbray – although BirminghamLive downplayed that prospect at the weekend – and Blackburn manager John Eustace.
