Westdyke win showed we can handle the pressure, says Morton WFC forward
MORTON Women's forward Jennifer Caldwell says that the Parklea side dealt with the pressure put upon them perfectly as they swept aside Aberdeenshire side Westdyke Ladies on Sunday.
Ton opened up a 10-point gap between themselves and the relegation play-off places with a fine 4-1 victory, with Caldwell adding to Olivia McMahon's early double to put the hosts three goals to the good inside half an hour.
And the forward is adamant that Ton answered any questions posed after the previous week's loss to Inverness, as they navigated their way through what could have been a tricky 90 minutes with some confidence.
She told the Tele: "We're delighted. There was a lot of pressure on us to get a result. Everyone had been looking at us.
"We were above Westdyke, and we drew with them early in the season, so there was a lot of pressure for us to get the win and to make it right from the previous game, where we should have probably taken all three points.

"We're delighted to get what is a huge three points. Opening up a ten point gap, and the manner in which we did it, getting the four goals, was brilliant.
"We haven't really started games as strongly as we wanted in the past few weeks.
"There were a few chances, before the opener went in, for us to score, and we didn't quite go off.
"But to set that tone early was great, and to keep building on that, and get another couple of goals before half-time, was excellent from the girls."
