Westmorland League round-up: Appleby Reserves secure 3-0 victory
The Westmorland League resumed this weekend after a two-week hiatus.
The break, which was due to the Christmas period, saw almost all scheduled fixtures cancelled.
The highlight of the weekend was the clash between Sedbergh & Dent United Reserves and Ambleside United Reserves.
This encounter saw Sedbergh & Dent United Reserves secure a 4-3 victory.
Goals from Josh Bond, Brendan McDaid, Alex Lardner, and Finn Thornton sealed the win, helping them leapfrog Ambleside into 10th place, five points clear of the relegation zone.
Sedbergh & Dent United Reserves manager, Jay Kirby, expressed his satisfaction with the win.
He said: "At the start of the season, we lost many players for various reasons, so it has been a struggle each week to get two teams out.
"We’ve found a level of consistency in recent games and the lads that show up each week are very committed and would run through a wall for me."
In other Division 3 matches, Appleby Reserves maintained their form with a 3-0 win away at Burneside, with Rio Howard and Andrew Butterworth finding the net.
