Reading boss Noel Hunt has confirmed that the club are yet to receive any offers from players to move in January as the window edges towards its conclusion.

Fears were strong among those both in and around the club, with supporters fearful of another fire sale to fund the club in the short-term.

This comes after the events of last January in which first-team players were sold, some without consent from boss Ruben Selles.

However, with the deadline of 11pm on Monday, February 3 quickly approaching, news remains quiet and positive for the Royals.

"We’ve had no phone calls. I spoke to Bri yesterday and nothing has changed," Hunt told the media ahead of Saturday's trip to Leyton Orient. "It is relatively quiet on that front, which is great for us. There is 11 days left so we are counting them down. The boys have been brilliant. They work so well together, and I think they know we have a good thing here. When we get these lads up and running and fully fit to help the squad and the whole group, it is nothing but a plus.

"You can never say never because we learned that last year but as far as I’m aware, Gilksey and Bri have been left with the task at hand, and it is important we stay on that page where we keep everyone here as best we can. It is really important for the football club, for the fans and for everyone. We have great lads in the dressing room, great characters and we don’t want to lose anybody."

The first of two monthly outgoings which the club have, in the past, failed to pay on time is tax.

Getting the club into bother last season, supporters are by now acutely aware of due dates and concerned with immediate cashflow.

However, Hunt was quick to assure supporters that this is in hand.

"If I showed you my phone- I have blocked every single media outlet on my twitter feed. I couldn’t tell you unless I get a phone call off of Brian [Carey] or Gilkesy. I’ve had no conversations with the off-field stuff.

"It has been paid. That has been the same for however many months. It is talked about, but nothing has changed, it was paid yesterday, and we are moving forwards still."
