Reading winger Chem Campbell is determined to 'fight every week for what the team needs' now he is back until the summer.

The 21-year-old joined on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer and has five goals to his name.

Originally expiring earlier in the month, the Wales youth international penned an extension to remain in Berkshire until May, returning in the trio of defeats to Stockport County, Leyton Orient and Burton Albion.

Speaking to the media for the first time since returning following Tuesday's 3-2 defeat to the Brewers, Campbell said: "I’m happy to be here and fight every week. Whatever the team needs, I’m going to be there, and I want to get back on track."

Playing for over an hour at the Pirelli Stadium, Campbell hit the crossbar but the Royals suffered heartbreak in the 92nd minute, losing after hauling themselves level at 2-2 with 10 minutes remaining.

On his overall performance, the youngster said: "I switched sides and I’m a bit more comfortable on the left. I tried to help- I hit the bar I think- but we had loads of chances. I don’t know what the stats are, but we must have had a thousand shots and whatnot, so we were unlucky. I’m just happy that we got back into the game, but we couldn’t finish it off."

Set plays and crosses proved vital in the East Midlands, with all three Burton goals coming from balls into the box. This has been a common theme, with both Stockport and Leyton Orient taking advantage of the flaw too.

"It’s exactly that- set piece goes and crosses," Campbell said when quizzed on areas for improvement. "We just have to continue to watch the analysis on how we can get better and change those things- maybe adding someone in or whatnot. The gaffer will do that for us, he’s always there to help and we will try to iron it out."

Bolton Wanderers visit the SCL Stadium on Saturday as Noel Hunt looks to stop a rut of three successive defeats.
