Why isn't Sheffield United vs Tottenham live on TV in UK today?

Tottenham and Sheffield United will draw the curtain on their seasons this afternoon.

It has, to be frank, been the worst-ever campaign in the Blades’ long history.

Entering the final weekend of the Premier League season bottom, relegated and with just three wins to their name, they are destined to finish with their lowest-ever points total - including the decades when a win was worth only two points.

The season is not quite over for Spurs, though.

Ange Postecoglou will be keen to end a run of four straight defeats, in the knowledge that another will put their place in the top five at risk. Defeat at Bramall Lane coupled with a Chelsea win against Bournemouth would see them fall below the Blues, in what would be a humiliating end to what has often been an enjoyable season.

However, Sheffield United vs Tottenham will not be shown live on TV in the UK.

Sky Sports and TNT Sports have a limited number of games to pick for broadcast on the final day, despite it not being held during the Saturday 3pm blackout.

This match was not chosen by either broadcaster, who are instead showing Manchester City vs West Ham, Arsenal vs Everton, Liverpool vs Wolves and Chelsea vs Bournemouth.

From 2025, every Premier League match played outside the Saturday blackout will be shown live in the UK.

Free highlights will be aired on BBC One’s Match of the Day at 10.30pm with the Sky Sports app and YouTube channel also showing the goals later today.
