Why Marcus Rashford will miss Liverpool vs Man Utd as Harry Maguire decision made
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has confirmed Marcus Rashford will not feature this Sunday against Liverpool at Anfield.
Back in December, Amorim signalled an end to Rashford's United career after leaving him out of the squad to take on Manchester City at the Etihad, a game they won in dramatic fashion 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Amad Diallo.
However, while results have gotten markedly worse since that win over City, Rashford has still found himself sidelined, having not featured in any of their last five games. He was named on the bench to face Newcastle United in their most recent defeat, but did not come on as a substitute, with it telling Amorim opted to bring on Antony.

Speaking ahead of the clash against Liverpool this weekend, Amorim said: "At the moment he is ill. He is not training. He is going to be out this week."
It is also likely Rashford will not be named in another United squad for the remainder of January too, with the club keen on shifting him out the door in the January transfer window. However, it remains to be seen whether they will be able to do just that.
Following his goal-laden 2022/23 campaign, in which Rashford scored 30 times, United gave him a new bumper contract with a pay packet of $370,000-a-week (£300,000) - a deal which has aged horrifyingly given the drop off in the 27-year-old's performances.
That contract now looks to be near-impossible for United to offload in January, especially with any club looking to sign Rashford probably needing to take on a sizeable portion of his wages.
Away from the drama surrounding Rashford, Amorim also confirmed that Diallo was close to signing a new deal, while United have also triggered a one-year extension in Harry Maguire's contract.
Amorim added: "We are happy to continue with Harry. We will trigger our option. He needs to improve as a leader because we are starving for leaders on the pitch."
Liverpool.com says: "It's hard to see just how much worse the Rashford situation at United could get, but given the current state of affairs at Old Trafford, that is not out of the question. No one knows where his future lies."
