William Saliba laughed off speculation that he could join Spanish and European champions Real Madrid at Arsenal's warm-weather training camp in Dubai.

The Gunners headed to the Gulf State last Thursday for a couple of days of warm-weather training due to having no involvement in this week's FA Cup or Champions League fixtures.

Over the weekend, Arsenal stars took time to meet and greet the locals, signing various bits of merchandise before one of the sessions.

One Gunner got more than he bargained for as he pleaded with Saliba to stay at Arsenal when the Frenchman was tentatively linked with a move to Real Madrid.

While signing a shirt, one fan said: "Never go [to] [Real] Madrid," to which Saliba replied with a laugh.

Last week, it was claimed that Arsenal would only allow the Frenchman to move to the Spanish capital if Madrid paid a world-record fee for a defender. Saliba, however, is contracted at the Emirates Stadium until 2027.

Earlier this season, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk praised Sailba's development since joining Arsenal in 2019.

Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Podcast, Van Dijk said: "Obviously, Saliba's making very good steps at the moment. He's the first one I just have in mind now. He's a solid one. I think in possession, he's doing a good job.

"When I was that age, I was nowhere near where he was today. Obviously, that's the beauty of football as well."
