Willian offered to Everton on free transfer
Everton are one of the clubs who have been offered former Chelsea star Willian, who is a free agent.
Willian left Greek club Olympiacos after only six months, meaning he can sign for a club as a free transfer this month.
It is understood the Brazilian has been offered to more than one Premier League club, one of which is Everton.
Everton are understood to have shown an interest in the 36-year-old winger, but also have other targets and are yet to make it clear whether they will make a move.
Willian would be able to make an instant impact for manager David Moyes’ team, who are in desperate need of forward players.
Having already played for Chelsea, Arsenal and Fulham, Willian could move to his fourth English club this month.
Fulham captain Tom Cairney this month described Willian as the best player he has ever played with, saying: “Willian, it’s not even close. I think football brain, out of this world.
“In my opinion, I don’t think he gets the recognition he deserves in the Premier League. I think he was one of the best players in the Premier League for four or five years, but because he played in the same team as Eden Hazard, who kind of took a lot of the limelight – and rightly so, he was the best player – but I thought Willian was special, very special.”
Moyes has made it clear that he would like new players this month and, with a limited budget, Willian could be attractive to Everton.
Everton are also likely to be in the market for a striker after Moyes revealed on-loan Armando Broja could be out with an ankle injury for up to 12 weeks and may return to Chelsea.
Moyes is a fan of Chelsea pair Carney Chukwuemeka and Ben Chilwell, who could both leave Stamford Bridge on loan this month, but he would need to free up space to make another domestic loan by releasing either Broja or Jack Harrison.
Wednesday night’s defeat to Aston Villa means Everton are still deep in relegation danger in the Premier League table, with Tottenham Hotspur the next side to visit Goodison Park.
