Who will win Bayern vs Celtic? Our writers deliver their predictions for Champions League showdown in Germany
It's set to be a HUGE night in Munich as Celtic look to cause a major upset and reach the last 16 of the Champions League.
Brendan Rodgers' men face a huge task going into the backyard of the German giants as they look to cause a major upset and send shockwaves across not only the competition but Europe. The Bundesliga league leaders hold a 2-1 advantage from the first meeting in Glasgow last midweek, but the Hoops will take heart from the final 15 minutes after Daizen Meada dragged them back into the game as they gave Vincent Kompany's men a real scare.
The Scottish champions will need that sort of performance in attack with the defensive masterclass shown in that draw with Atalanta in the league phase to progress in what is set to be a really tough test for the Hoops. They arrive in good spirits having dumped Dundee United at the weekend while Bayern maintained their eight point lead over champions Leverkusen after a stalemate. Record Sport's top team have delivered their predictions ahead of a big night at the Allianz Arena.

Celtic can hang in the game and make it tough for Bayern, but it’s going to be difficult to keep them out for 90 minutes. The Hoops can hit the net to give hope but it’s too big a mountain to climb.

Brendan Rodgers’ side face a massive task. They have to try and overturn last week’s home defeat. I can see them putting on a decent showing but they will need to open up and that is where I can see Bayern taking full advantage.

Unfortunately it’s the end of the road in this season’s Champions League for Celtic at the Allianz. Bayern Munich are simply a cut above and they’ve already completed the hard yards in Glasgow. But Brendan Rodgers can bow out of the competition with heads held high.

An historic first ever victory on German soil would be up there with anything the Hoops have achieved in Europe. It’s a daunting task but that Daizen Maeda goal at Parkhead has made it interesting and it will be closer than many think, with Bayern proving again at the weekend in their goalless draw against Leverkusen they aren’t firing on all cylinders.

The German giants showed their class during that first 70 minutes in Glasgow before stepping off the gas. That change in pace allowed Celtic to up theirs and grab a priceless lifeline. But if Bayern hit top speed again it could be a long night for the Hoops in Bavaria.

Celtic’s Euro away record has improved this year - but it’ll take a miraculous turnaround to salvage this tie in Munich. If the Hoops can keep the scoreline respectable, then it’ll be an invaluable experience for next season.
