'We go out to win' - Wanderers Women relishing big cup tie
The North West Division One North and South leaders go head-to-head on Sunday as Wanderers Women travel to Poulton Vics.
Wanderers sit top of the table after an impressive season to date, winning all 15 of their league matches.
Poulton Vics also had a 100 per cent record until last weekend, when they were beaten by Chester, and still have an eight-point cushion at the summit.
“We are definitely expecting a test, that is for sure,” manager Myles Smith told The Bolton News.
“Look at Poulton, they are in our respective league in the southern division and they are top of that league.
“Last weekend was the first game they have lost all year. It is going to be a really interesting game, they are a good team.
“They need to be respected like every team does that we play. It is certainly going to be a good test but these are the games you want to play.”
The Whites also have a County Cup semi-final against Preston North End coming up the following weekend, and Smith is determined to carry their formidable league record into the cup competitions.
“Every time one of my players wears a Bolton shirt, they know what it means,” he added.
“They know the importance of representing the team. For a club the size of Bolton, you don't wear the shirt to draw or lose football matches.
“You put on that shirt to go out there and win, whether that is a cup game, league game or friendly.
“You go out there to win and when you represent this club, you have to deliver. The players are aware of that.
“I have never ever managed a game in my entire career to draw or lose, I go out there to win. Even if I wanted to and didn't see much importance on this cup, my players couldn't allow me to think that way. They are hungry to win every game.
“They want to do that for the fans. It is a different competition but the same desire is there to go out and get this game won.”
