Wishaw are on the hunt for a new manager after Aaron Connolly stepped down to focus on himself and his family commitments.

The 33-year-old only took the reins in September after leaving West of Scotland Fourth Division side East Kilbride Thistle.

But the switch has not gone according to plan with Connolly failing to win a game in his nine matches in charge and Wishy remain rock bottom of the West of Scotland Third Division.

Announcing his exit on social media, Connolly said: “I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Wishaw FC for their efforts during my short time in charge. I took over the club in difficult circumstances and, unfortunately, I was unable to turn this around and get the results we had all hoped for.

“There are plenty of good people at the club working desperately hard to turn things around. I hope they see the result of that effort soon.

“I need a break to focus on myself, family and those around me who suffered from my countless days and nights spent at the football over the last few years.

“Thank you for the opportunity and all the best to everyone at Wishaw FC.”

A Wishaw statement read: “Everyone at Wishaw FC would like to thank Aaron and his coaching team for his efforts during a difficult period, and we wish them all the best for the future.”
