Wolves 3 West Ham 0: Marko Arnautovic injured on horror night for the Hammers
Marko Arnautovic hobbled off injured on his return for West Ham as the Hammers were blown away by Wolves at Molineux.
Arnautovic was back in the West Ham team after the speculation around his future ended last week but the Hammers are now sweating on his fitness.
The Austrian was caught on the top of his foot by a strong challenge in the second half and was forced off.
West Ham will assess him over the next 24 hours but they face a nervous face to discover the extent of the damage.
The injury to Arnautovic compounded another awful night for West Ham after their defeat at AFC Wimbledon last Saturday.
The Hammers were level at half-time but they produced an abject display after the break and Wolves scored three goals in the second half.
Romain Saiss headed the opener from a corner and then Raul Jimenez scored twice.
The sight of Arnautovic lining up for West Ham had given Manuel Pellegrini a boost as West Ham look to put his transfer saga behind them.
Arnautovic led the line for the Hammers but he was quiet before he came off.
Wolves had early shouts for a penalty when Arthur Masuaku tangled with Matt Doherty but referee David Coote waved away protests from the home side.
Felipe Anderson shot wide but it was Wolves who had the better of the first half.
Jonny Otto headed just wide and Wolves though they had gone ahead 35 minutes when they had the ball in the net.
Jimenez flicked an effort onto the bar and Leander Dendoncker headed home the rebound but the linesman had already flagged Jimenez offside. Replays showed it was the right decision.
West Ham then ended the half on the back foot as Wolves pressed for an opener.
Lukasz Fabianski pushed a shot from Diogo Jota wide and then had to make a smart stop to deny a powerful strike from Doherty at his near post.
Fabianski was busy again at the start of the first half. First he turned away a shot from Jota and then Romain Saiss shot straight at him from close range.
Fabianski was in inspired form but he do nothing when Saiss headed home from a corner to put Wolves in front on 66 minutes.
West Ham were fortunate not to concede a penalty when Pablo Zabaleta brought down Jota but their night when downhill after that.
Arnautovic was forced off after a Wolves player caught him on the top of his foot with his studs. He had some treatment but it quickly became clear that he would not be able to carry on and he had to be replaced on 77 minutes.
Then Wolves doubled their lead on 80 minutes when more poor marking from a corneal lowed Jimenez to poke home.
Jimenez added a third late on on a dismal night for West Ham.
