Wolves have completed the signing of Emmanuel Agbadou ahead of their FA Cup clash with Bristol City at Ashton Gate this weekend.

Vitor Pereria's side travel to the West Country this Saturday to face Liam Manning's Robins in the third round of the competition in what is both team's first fixture in this year's edition of the tournament.

The Black Country club come into this weekend's clash off of the back of a frustrating 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest last time out. Although they created plenty of scoring chances, the best of which fell to Jorgen Strand Larsen, they were unable to contain Forest's attacking talent as they slipped to a 12th league defeat of the season.

As they look to get back to winning ways, Wolves will be boosted by the addition of former Reims defender Agbadou who has made the move to Molineux from the Ligue 1 having spent the last two and a half years in France.

Reports suggest that the Ivorian international's move will cost the Premier League side somewhere in the region of £15million as they look to pull away from the relegation zone after a difficult start to the season under the management of former City midfielder Gary O'Neil.

On the move, Wolves chairman Jeff Shi said: "We’re delighted to welcome Emmanuel to the club. He’s a player our recruitment team have watched for a long time and Vitor agreed that he was the right player and the right character to strengthen our squad now.

“It was important we completed the transfer early in the window to help Vitor straight away, and, like all transfers, this one took a lot of hard work from a lot of people. I hope Emmanuel has a successful career at Wolves, and he’ll have the full support of everyone during his time here.”

Bristol City come into Saturday's clash riding the crest of a wave having impressed over the festive period. The Reds are unbeaten in their last four matches and picked up 10 points from a possible 12 between Christmas Day and their 1-0 win over Derby County last weekend.

Although Wolves are expected to provide a tough test, despite struggling in the Premier League this season, there is a belief in the City camp that the Robins can cause an upset as they did against West Ham United just over a year ago.

Pereira's side will of course be hoping that the addition of Agbadou helps them avoid a second third-round exit in three years, but it remains unclear if the centre-back will be ready to make his debut at Ashton Gate.
