Woman, 39, dies during Rangers v Aberdeen match as police investigate 'unexplained' death

A women has tragically died after taking unwell during Aberdeen's clash with Rangers at Ibrox on Wednesday night.

Paramedics were rushed to the scene and took the 39-year-old to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she later passed away.

Police say the death is being treated as "unexplained" but do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, we received a report of a woman having taken unwell at a match at Ibrox Stadium.

"Emergency services attended and the 39-year-old woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where she died.

"The death is being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."

The Ibrox side won the game 3-0 after goals from Hamza Igamane, Leon Balogun and Cyriel Dessers.
