Workington Reds turned on the style to record a second successive league win.

Mark Fell's side enjoyed a 3-1 victory at Whitby Town in their latest Northern Premier League Premier League clash.

Dav Symington's strike sent Reds in at half-time with a 1-0 lead.

Kai Nugent scored early in the second half before top scorer Steven Rigg added another, rendering ex-Reds man Matty Tymon's Whitby goal a consolation.

The victory saw Workington build on last weekend's 4-2 win over Matlock Town.

Fell's side, who are now 14th in the table, are due to host Stockton Town next Saturday but Borough Park officials are facing a significant repair job before then after damage to the Popular Side roof in Storm Eowyn.

In Northern League Division One, meanwhile, Carlisle City maintained their good form with a 2-1 home win over North Shields.

Goals from Jordan Irving and Tom Mahone completed a comeback by Dan Kirkup's side, who moved up to 16th.

It was a third straight win in all competitions for City in the space of eight days after last weekend's league victory at Boro Rangers and their midweek Fred Conway Cumberland Cup quarter-final triumph against Workington.

City have been joined in the last four of the county senior cup by Penrith.

Darren Edmondson's side defeated Unisun Athletic 3-1 on Saturday, Andy Murray Jones scoring twice and Connor Hammell on target from the penalty spot.
