Football may or may not be ‘coming home’, but England are still in the World Cup after a breathtaking clash against Colombia.

Many raised an eyebrow when the Three Lions were drawn in the same group as Panama, Tunisia and Belgium.

Indeed, hopes were raised even more when England not only breezed through into the knockout rounds, but found themselves not having to face the likes of Spain and Germany.

Those European giants crashed out early on, while Gareth Southgate’s men suffered the biggest challenge to their World Cup campaign when Yerry Mina’s late header forced extra time and penalties – the Three Lions’ kryptonite.

But after a superb performance from Jordan Pickford and an ice-cool penalty from Eric Dier, England march on to the quarter-finals, where they will face Sweden.
