The clock is ticking down for the heavyweight match between Luke Littler and Michael Van Gerwen at the Ally Pally.

The World Darts Championship has showcased some of the finest moments yet in the competition's history. And just a year on from the 17-year-old's stunning debut at Worlds sees The Nuke become just the seventh player ever to make back-to-back finals. Littler thrashed Stephen Bunting 6-1 with a ruthless display in the semi-final and is bidding to become the youngest winner of the tournament after a whirlwind 12 months.

But he's up against an MVG with a bit between his teeth who knows that, on his day, he can still beat anyone. The three-time champion defeated Chris Dobey 6-1 in the semi-finals on Thursday and became the youngest winner aged 24 in 2014. Littler, however, is the odds-on championship favourite with the bookmakers.

Form Guide: The Green Machine has, if not in terms of pure numbers, got better with each match. His opening victory over James Hurrell was a formality before big questions were asked in the success over Brendan Dolan. Van Gerwen stepped up again in the triumph over Jeffrey De Graaf where he averaged over 102 and the performance against Callan Rydz was spectacular. Whenever asked big questions, Van Gerwen had the answers and he was in the same decisive mood against Chris Dobey. Although that display was not to the same scoring standard, he once more hit the key shots at the right times.

Form guide: Littler has been the man to beat in the Championship since the exit of Luke Humphries and he’s shown impressive facets to his game. The Nuke has the ability to hit a power button and get himself out of any danger and has had to display that trait having been pushed and tested in his trio of outings so far against Ryan Meikle, Ian White and Ryan Joyce. Nathan Aspinall offered some questions in the last-eight game, but, again, he was able to stave it off with strong scoring. Littler was not able to take out big and stylish finishes and there were not many huge out-shots, but it was different against Stephen Bunting where he backed up the scoring with both impressive and timely out-shots including a 170 special.
