Avid WWE fans have been given a fresh blow on whether WrestleMania will ever make its blockbuster UK debut.

The greatest show in pro wrestling has been earmarked for London in the near future after Hall of Famer Paul 'Triple H' Levesque Triple and Mayor Sadiq Khan held general talks last summer. But reports from a number of wrestling sources in the US have now cast doubt on that plan with the next two years potentially taking place in the Stateside.

This year's WrestleMania 41 takes place in Las Vegas in April, on Netflix, with the 2026 showstopper reportedly lined up for New Orleans. Hours later it emerged that the 2027 event is a candidate for Indianapolis – although neither have been officially confirmed. The rumours sent UK fans into a panic that a London WrestleMania appears further away than ever. But Mayor Sadiq Khan has offered an update.

According to the Daily Star, a spokesperson for the Mayor of London said: “London has great pedigree in hosting the biggest international sporting events from around the globe. The Mayor remains determined to bring even more sports from around the world to London, including the first international WrestleMania hosted by the UK, and continues to discuss future opportunities. The Mayor wants to cement London’s reputation as the undisputed sporting capital of the world, as we work together to build a better London for everyone.”

British wrestling lovers may have to wait until 2028 at the earliest to see the first international WrestleMania. Wembley Stadium has hosted WWE events before, including SummerSlam in 1993. Rivals All Elite Wrestling held their 'All In' shows at the venue in both 2023 and 2024.

WWE will be in London later this year as part of their first ever 11-city tour on the Road to WrestleMania. Superstars will appear in several locations including Glasgow and Belfast as part of a "promise" by Triple H to hold more shows overseas.
