Wrexham are reportedly lining up a January transfer move for Bristol City forward Harry Cornick.

It follows the club's manager Liam Manning confirming the 29-year-old will be allowed to explore his options during the upcoming transfer window.

The former Luton man, who can play either up front or on the wing, has yet to play a single minute in the Championship this season and was left out of the squad for the Robins' 2-0 defeat at West Brom on Sunday.

With Cornick out of favour at Ashton Gate, journalist Darren Witcoop claims in a post on X that Wrexham are ready to swoop, with League One rivals Charlton Athletic also said to be keen.

It comes as Phil Parkinson's frontmen are currently struggling for goals, with the Red Dragons having conceded late equalisers in their last two matches.

Manning was quizzed on Cornick's future by Bristol Live following his team's defeat at the weekend.

While praising the player's attitude, Manning confessed that he expects him to weigh up his choices when next month's transfer window opens.

The Bristol City boss said: “I've had a chat with Corns and it's tough because he's one a top person and two a top professional.

“I know he would have been frustrated at not getting minutes but we had that chat in the summer that it might be the case. I can't commend him enough for how he's conducted himself.

“With January coming up, I'm sure he'll want to explore options as we'll allow him to.

“We've had those chats with Corns but as I said, it's always harder when you've got someone that's such a good person and a pro. We'll have to see how that turns out.”

Cornick started his career with non-league Christchurch, before later joining Bournemouth.

The forward scored 38 goals in 235 appearances for Luton between August 2017 and his departure to Bristol City in January 2023.

Cornick has made more than 60 appearances for the Robins, but has found it difficult to nail down a starting place in the team.

There would be a familiar face in the dressing room if Cornick does sign for Wrexham, having played with Elliot Lee at Luton.

It comes as Wrexham manager Parkinson has made it clear he will spend in January if the right player becomes available.

Speaking last week, the 57-year-old said: “We're not standing still - we're looking and speaking with agents all the time.

“We've had our eye on the ball for quite a while with the January transfer window in mind.

“Everybody in this window will be assessing their squad, looking at the market and looking to add quality.

“Quite often with those quality players, you'll get two or three clubs competing for that signature. We'll be in the mix if the right player becomes available.”
