Wrexham suffer major injury blow as Arthur Okonkwo ruled out with broken wrist
Wrexham AFC have suffered a major injury blow after it was revealed one of their star players has broken his wrist.
Club owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney pushed the boat out to sign goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo over the summer following his release from Arsenal.
It came after the 23-year-old's impressive spell on loan at the Racecourse from the Gunners last season as the Red Dragons gained promotion from League Two.

Okonkwo kept 14 clean sheets in 36 league appearances last term and already has eight to his name during Wrexham's current League One campaign.
However, Phil Parkinson has now provided a devastating update after confirming the keeper broke his wrist in the club's 1-0 win at home against Mansfield last weekend.
The manager said Okonkwo is expected to spend at least six weeks on the sidelines, with former Plymouth stopper Callum Burton expected to fill in.
Parkinson told the club's official website: “We had some bad news when we had to send Arthur Okonkwo for a scan after he damaged his wrist on Saturday.
“Unfortunately, he has broken his wrist and is going to be out for a minimum of six weeks.
“Our supporters may have found it a bit strange that we played both goalkeepers for 45 minutes on Tuesday night (against Port Vale) – that was pre-planned in terms of giving them both some game-time, but also to protect Callum a little bit as well.
“I feel for Arthur, he’s in good form, but we’ve got two experienced goalkeepers ready and waiting.”
It's not the first time Okonkwo has suffered an injury while at Wrexham.
He missed almost a month of action last season after fracturing his jaw against Harrogate in November 2023. Wrexham fended off reported interest from Premier League and Championship clubs to secure his signature permanently.
The names of defenders Luke Bolton and Will Boyle were also added to the injury list this week. It came after they picked up injuries in Tuesday night's EFL Trophy game against Port Vale.
Parkinson said: “It was a really good workout with three lads making their first starts for the club and all came through well.
“Unfortunately, we picked up two injuries on the night – Luke Bolton and Will Boyle – and both look like four to five-week lay-offs, which is obviously frustrating.”
Parkinson also provided a wider update on his squad, with George Evans, James Jones, Steven Fletcher and Jack Marriott all unavailable in recent weeks.
He added: “George Evans is making good progress, James Jones is still a couple of weeks away from joining in training with a foot injury, and Steven Fletcher trained last week but has had a slight setback and he’s seeing a specialist today so we’ll know more after that.
“Jack Marriott has been with the group, but as everyone knows that’s going to take time. It’s good to have him back in and around the ground with the lads though.”
