YARNBURY’S first team were not in action in Counties Two Yorkshire at the weekend, meaning their ladies team took centre stage.

They have struggled to put a team out for much of the season, but they are still a fine side when they do play, and they were involved in a magnificent game at home to Skipton Roses on Sunday.

In a thrilling National 2 Challenge North affair, it was visiting Skipton who claimed victory, winning 27-24.

Skipton’s try scorers were Olivia Schepisi, Steph Roe, Babs Thomas, Laura Ackroyd and Lottie Knowles, while Emma Wall added a conversion.

As for Yarnbury, the women’s team are recruiting and are holding two ‘give it a go’ sessions

One is on Tuesday, February 4 with a 7pm start, the other is on Thursday, February 6, at 7.15pm.

You don’t need anything to turn up, just some clothes that are suitable for outside sport.
