York talent Jess Park receives Lionesses call-up for Nations League matches
JESS Park has received another call-up for the upcoming Lionesses squad.
The former York City attacker has been named as part of Sarina Wiegman's 24-player England squad for their upcoming UEFA Women's Nations League matches against Portugal and Spain.
Park and her Lionesses teammates will first travel to Portugal on Friday, February 21 (7.45pm) before World Cup holders Spain visit England at Wembley Stadium, on Wednesday, February 26 (8pm).
The York-born starlet is one of two Manchester City players to be named in the squad, collecting what could be her 14th and 15th cap internationally.
Park started her career with York before earning a move to Manchester City in 2017, where she has gone on to establish herself as a regular for the Sky Blues.
The 23-year-old was also once involved with the York City Regional Talent Club.
Whilst with Manchester City, Park had a hugely productive loan spell with Everton by making 17 appearances, where she was when she earned a first call-up.
She'll be joined by players such as Lauren James, Alessia Russo and Mary Earps for the upcoming round of fixtures.
Speaking on her squad, Lionesses boss Wiegman stated: “These are two big games to start 2025.
"It is exciting that we have the chance to write a new chapter in our story in the months ahead, especially with the EURO this summer, but we will focus first on what is right in front of us and a very important Nations League campaign.
“Portugal are getting stronger all the time and it will be good for us to get a week’s training together in what we hope will be great conditions, both on and off the pitch, before we play.
“I’m expecting a high-level game, and it is also good to experience a different environment in our first match abroad since last summer.
“We then have another special occasion at Wembley against Spain.
"I’m sure we will get great support, and we can’t wait to see our fans again.
"Hard work during the week and our performances in these two matches can give us a strong foundation for a big year ahead.”
