A young cyclist from the Isle of Wight achieved an impressive finish despite challenging stormy weather.

On Sunday, January 26, Wessex Cyclocross competitor Oli Nolan, part of the team, faced the elements in Crow, Ringwood, for the season's final round.

Storm Eowyn wreaked havoc on the muddy, churned-up course, previously battled on by other racers, creating further challenges with intermittent downpours and 50mph gusts.

Oli, starting from the front row, made a strong showing, holding a position within the top five from the start.

Oli said: "I am happy with fifth on a super tough course with inclement conditions, especially as I haven’t raced since well before Christmas.

"I have also earned another good set of points towards my overall league position.

"Thanks go to our sponsors, particularly Wightlink, as well as the organisers for putting on a fantastic event!"

The stormy conditions made the race increasingly tough, with parts of the course becoming easier to run on than to cycle.

Despite these struggles, Oli managed to cross the finish line in fifth place, marking one of his best results of the season.
