An emotional week for English football left fans equally stunned and drained.
First, Liverpool completely bossed Lionel Messi’s Barcelona out of contention for a Champions League final berth, despite entering the second leg of their semi-final 3-0 to the good.
An early Divock Origi goal put early pressure on the Catalans, who mustered up a meagre surrender as Georginio Wijnaldum struck twice to level the tie.
Indeed, Barcelona could barely believe what had happened by the time Origi added his second. It was well beyond the realms of probability, but a rare moment of history.

So it seems incredulous that for the second time in as many nights, we are discussing a similar comeback.
Tottenham were dead for all money after Matthijs de Ligt and Hakim Ziyech put the hosts 3-0 ahead, before Lucas Moura’s dramatic hat-trick put Spurs through on away goals.
His last, which came deep in stoppage time, truly put a dagger through the hosts’ hearts.
