Former AC Milan midfielder Keisuke Honda has retired from football after Japan’s elimination from the World Cup.

The Japanese threw away a two-goal lead to go down 3-2 to Belgium on Monday night in his last act for his country.

“I am concluding my career in the national team,” Honda said post-match, ending his international career two games shy of his century.
