It could be a big night for some of Liverpool's youngsters in the Champions League - and there are five players eyeing up their first-team debuts against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds are in the Netherlands on Wednesday - well, not all of the Reds. With the team's place in the last-16 sown up and at least a top-two finish in the league phase secure, Arne Slot has elected to leave most of his big guns back at home, with only a handful of senior players making the journey over to Eindhoven.

While the likes of Darwin Nunez, Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott will be aiming to impress and force their way into their head coach's regular plans, there are a number of youngsters who will be aiming to make a big impact as well. The likes of Trey Nyoni, James McConnell and Jayden Danns have all been named in the 21-man squad, although Rio Ngumoha will have to wait for his chance in Europe with the Reds.

Harvey Davies

A Scouser born and bred, Harvey Davies has been with Liverpool since Under-9s level and has been a regular feature in the Reds' youth teams over the years. The goalkeeper was part of the U18s squad that made it to the FA Youth Cup final in 2021, playing a big role with some important saves against Manchester United and Leicester along the way.

Having signed his first professional contract with the club in 2021, Davies has been a part of Liverpool's first-team goalkeeping setup for some time, regularly joining in training with Alisson, Caoimhin Kelleher and Vitezslav Jaros. He has also been named in Champions League squads in the past, while also taking in a loan at League Two side Crewe, where he made 32 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign.

In all honesty, it is unlikely we will see the 21-year-old make his debut considering Kelleher and Jaros have also made the journey.

Amara Nallo

One of the newer additions among Liverpool's youth ranks, Amara Nallo was signed from West Ham in September 2023, but he has already managed to make a big impression with the Reds.

A center-back by trade, the 18-year-old has emerged as a natural leader this season, having been made captain for the first time against Bologna in the UEFA Youth League. Since then, he has held on to the armband for games against RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid and Girona.

Nallo has shown plenty of maturity in his game since arriving on Merseyside, almost instantly stepping up into an age group or two above what a player of his age would usually expect to be at, while also earning two call-ups to the senior squad last season, and making Slot's bench on a couple more occasions this campaign.

Isaac Mabaya

A versatile midfielder who can also play at right-back, Isaac Mabaya has been with Liverpool since the age of six, and broke into the Reds' U18s side while still an U16 player during the 2020/21 campaign.

Awarded his first professional contract in September 2021, Mabaya featured in pre-season for the senior side's tour of Asia in July 2022. Injury would limit his progress that subsequent season, but he was nevertheless awarded a new deal towards the end of the campaign. Eligible to represent either Zimbabwe or England, the 20-year-old has represented the latter at U15, U16, U18 and U19 levels, and was given a call-up to the former's senior team in November 2023.

Kieran Morrison

Having signed his first professional contract less than 12 months ago, Kieran Morrison is one of the youngest in Wednesday's squad, with only Trey Nyoni and Nallo born after him. The 18-year-old is described as a "creative and attacking midfield player" by the club's website, having joined Liverpool as an U14 player after previously being on the books with Manchester United.

A first-year scholar with the U18s last season, Morrison has made the step up to the U21s this campaign, and a senior debut in Europe would mark another huge step in his development.

Trent Kone-Doherty

One of the most exciting talents among Liverpool's youth ranks, there will be plenty of fans already familiar with Trent Kone-Doherty's name. Indeed, it has felt like just a matter of time before he was handed first-team opportunity.

Having arrived at Liverpool in July 2022, he signed his first professional contract the following year. Starting out as a first-year scholar in 2022/23, Kone-Doherty struck 11 goals before injury curtailed his season.

He would go on to make his Premier League 2 debut the following season, and shone as he scored 15 goals across all competitions, including a first hat-trick in a 7-1 win over Sunderland, and a double in a 7-1 rout against Arsenal in the FA Youth Cup. If he gets his chance, he will certainly be worth keeping an eye on.
