Andrija Maksimovic has become the subject of transfer speculation as his agent confirms that Liverpool has made an offer for the player ahead of the impending transfer deadline.

While details are still unfolding, this move could see the young talent join the Reds on the final day of the January window. Both Liverpool and Aston Villa are battling for the highly sought-after youngster, a rising star from Serbian SuperLiga champions Red Star Belgrade.

The youngster also has an interesting nickname - Messi. However according to Serbian Football Scout on X, it isn't linked with his talent. It actually comes from his sister, who thought his haircut resembled Lionel Messi's when he was little, and the name stuck ever since.

Maksimovic is currently valued at €12million [£10m/$12.4m] but his agent believes his services could cost €20m [£16.7m/$20.7m] by June.
