Arne Slot drops Liverpool team news hint ahead of FA Cup tie vs Plymouth and Merseyside derby
Arne Slot confirmed that he is set to field a number of fringe players during Liverpool's FA Cup fourth-round meeting with Plymouth this weekend.
The Reds face lower-league opposition for a second round in succession on Sunday, and with the games coming thick and fast in all competitions, Slot has deemed the game against Plymouth as a good opportunity to rest some first-team regulars.
"It is always a tricky tie, no matter what team you play, because it is an away game and it is probably their 'final', as is often the case when Liverpool goes anywhere," Slot told reporters a a press conference on Friday.

"I think it is important in these moments for players that don't get much playing time to have that playing time, so that if we ever need them then they are ready. If you never play them, it is so difficult for them to be ready if we do get some injuries or suspensions. We will definitely use some players that haven't played so much."
Meanwhile, Slot confirmed Trent Alexander-Arnold and Tyler Morton are both set to miss the match, with the former likely to return in the coming days but the latter expected to be sidelined for a significant period of time.
“[This weekend's FA Cup match against Plymouth is] going to be too early for him," Slot said of Alexander Arnold, who sustained a minor thigh problem against Bournemouth last weekend. "Difficult to say [whether he will return against Everton next week]. Like I said before, it’s not going to take months and not even weeks but that’s only three days after the Plymouth Argyle game, so let’s wait and see if he is available."
Of Morton, who is out with a shoulder problem, Slot said: “[He will be out] for weeks or maybe even longer”.
