Arne Slot gives injury latest on two Liverpool stars ahead of Everton clash
Arne Slot has given an update on the fitness of two Liverpool players ahead of Wednesday’s Merseyside derby.
The Reds head to Goodison Park for the final time in the rearranged Premier League fixture following Sunday’s shock FA Cup exit at the hands of Plymouth Argyle. Trent Alexander-Arnold wasn’t involved in that game due to a thigh issue he sustained against Bournemouth on February 1 that has ruled him out of the last two matches.
But the defender could be back to face Everton on Wednesday night. "Trent has done a partial training session with us yesterday," Slot said ahead of the game. "Let’s see how he he is today. He will train hopefully with us again and we have to see if we will take him to the game."

Joe Gomez did start at Home Park but had to be replaced after just 11 minutes. Slot had said after Sunday’s FA Cup loss that he wasn’t sure if Gomez's hamstring injury was a recurrence of the problem he sustained in December.
“It was clear, I think we all know which moment he felt a bit insecure about [it] because he didn't sprint back fully. Then he said, 'I am not 100 per cent sure and I am afraid if I make one extra sprint things will go wrong.' It's not torn I assume, but it didn't feel good for him.”
But speaking on Tuesday, Slot confirmed Gomez's injury is to the same leg. "Joe, it's his same leg again where he had the injury last time. We are still assessing that but he definitely won't be available tomorrow."
Meanwhile, Curtis Jones was deemed not fit to come off the bench at Plymouth. He first suffered his knock in the Champions League win over Lille on 21 January that forced him to miss the games against Ipswich Town and PSV Eindhoven. Having returned against Bournemouth and starting in the Carabao Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur, Jones appeared to have fully recovered from the problem, but then suffered a relapse last weekend.
“Curtis Jones was on the bench, but he came to me this morning and said, 'I don't think I am fully recovered yet' as well after the training session of yesterday,” Slot said at the weekend.
Slot wasn't asked about the midfielder on Tuesday and it's not clear whether he will be available to face Everton. The only other injury concern for Liverpool is Tyler Morton, who will be out for at least a few weeks with a shoulder injury.
