Arne Slot offers new update on Liverpool move amid fresh expectation

Arne Slot is confident Liverpool will reach an agreement with Feyenoord imminently.

The 45-year-old is the club’s leading candidate to replace the outgoing Jurgen Klopp and has openly stated his desire to move to Anfield.

Klopp, who will lead the Reds out at home for the penultimate time on Sunday against Tottenham, has already given his backing to the Dutchman.

Slot rejected a move to Tottenham last year after winning the Eredivisie title with the Rotterdam giants and is previously thought to have snubbed an offer to manage Leeds United.

While Feyenoord were unable to retain their crown this season, they did lift the KNVB Cup last month.

Reports have suggested Liverpool have struck an agreement with the Dutch club but Slot insisted there had been no official movement.

“Nothing has been officially confirmed yet,” he said on Friday ahead of his team’s clash with PEC Zwolle this weekend.

“I’m sitting here with the Feyenoord emblem on my chest, so in principle the intention is that it’s all about Feyenoord.

“I have said before that I am confident that it will be done. I don’t know when that will be. But I expect an agreement will be reached.”

When speaking to Sky Sports, Slot added: “We haven’t confirmed anything yet and as I said to the Dutch media, as long as we haven’t confirmed anything yet, I don’t think it is honest to the club where I am working now, or the club I could go to, to talk about that.”
