Arsenal and Chelsea have both booked their places in the Europa League final after beating Valencia and Eintracht Frankfurt respectively.

The Gunners saw off Valencia in Spain 4-2 while Chelsea followed up their draw in Germany with a nervy penalty shootout win at Stamford Bridge.

A day after Tottenham came back from a 3-0 aggregate deficit against Ajax to book their place in an all-English Champions League final against Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea have set up the same for the Europa League.

It was a historic night for both English and European football, never before have all four finalists across both competitions come from the same country.

Emery books another Europa League final appearance

Trailing 3-1 after the first leg, Valencia took advantage of their early pressure as Kevin Gameiro put the hosts in front finishing off a brilliant counter attack at the back post.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang settled some nerves after pulling Arsenal level on the night just six minutes later with an emphatic strike into the bottom corner.

Alexandre Lacazette secured their place in the final five minutes after the restart. Lucas Torreira found the Frenchman before he turned and fired past Neto into the bottom corner.

Gameiro, who was part of Unai Emery’s Sevilla side who won three successive Europa League titles, got one back for Valencia after rounding Petr Cech, before Ainsley Maitland-Niles set up Aubameyang at the near post for his second of the night.

The 29-year-old rounded off a 7-3 aggregate win with his hat-trick - and 29th goal of the season - as he smashed into the roof of the net from Henrikh Mkhitaryan's through ball.

Chelsea set up another all-English final

The Blues were denied an early penalty after Ruben Loftus-Cheek was bundled over by Danny da Costa before David Luiz’s header was cleared off the line by Makoto Hasebe.

Chelsea made the breakthrough in the 28th minute as Loftus-Cheek scored his 10th goal of the season to put the away side in front.

Frankfurt hit back just four minutes after the break, though. Mijat Gacinovic put through the highly sought-after Luka Jovic who was free to simply place it past Kepa.

Neither side could break the deadlock in normal time but Frankfurt almost got themselves in front early in extra time when Sebastien Haller’s header was cleared off the line by Davide Zappacosta.

Cesar Azpilicueta thought he’d put Chelsea into the final, but his goal was ruled out for a push on goalkeeper Kevin Trapp before the ball ended up in the back of the net.

On what might have been his last game at Stamford Bridge, Hazard won it for Chelsea with the Blues fifth penalty in the shootout.

Frankfurt had the advantage as captain Azpilicueta saw his penalty saved before Kepa kept out the German side’s fourth and fifth penalties.

Hazard stepped up to secure a 4-3 win on spot kicks to set up another all-English final.
