Manchester City were facing West Ham at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Man City went into the game two points clear of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table and needed just to match or better the Gunners' result against the Blues to win the title.

City took a 2-0 lead with a Phil Foden brace before Mohammed Kudus got a goal back for West Ham. It was in the closing stages of the first half that there started to be some noise swirling around the Emirates among the home crowd of events in Manchester.

Sections of Arsenal supporters began to celebrate, initially believing that West Ham had scored a second goal against Pep Guardiola's side. However, those celebrations were cut short when the fans were informed that the Hammers were still trailing 2-1 at the Etihad.

In the early stages of the second half, City got their third goal of the game to go 3-1 in front against the Hammers. This led to a significantly changed atmosphere in Everton's game against Arsenal after a goal that all but ended the Gunners' hopes of winning the league title.
