Bayern Munich hint at Harry Kane return date ahead of pre-season reunion with Tottenham

Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany has confirmed Harry Kane will not feature in their pre-season clash with Tottenham.

The German giants are set to meet Spurs in the Korean capital of Seoul on Saturday August 3 before traveling to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium a week later.

Kane, however, will not feature for Bayern after reaching the Euro 2024 final with England.

Despite scoring three goals at the tournament, the Three Lions captain was heavily criticised for his performances and was frequently substituted by manager Gareth Southgate.

The 30-year-old suffered a back injury towards the end of his first season with Bayern and admitted he would “have loved to have played better” in the 2-1 final defeat to Spain.

Southgate conceded Kane, who left Spurs for Bayern last summer, came “into the tournament having had an injury at the end of the season” after the loss in Berlin.

Kompany told a news conference on Monday: “Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano and Kingsley Coman won't be there, but then hopefully for the first cup game.”

Bayern begin their DfB Pokal campaign against SSV Ulm on Friday, August 16.

Former Spurs defender Eric Dier, however, could be involved in the double-header after he was left out of the England squad for Euro 2024.
