Cardiff City have secured their second signing of the transfer window in the form of Sivert Mannsverk.

The Ajax midfielder, 22, has penned a loan deal until the end of the season and joins Yousef Salech among the list of the Bluebirds' January recruits. However, they are far from done.

We understand that Cardiff are still in the market for one, potentially even two more incomings before Monday's transfer window closes.

The Bluebirds have sought out Premier League clubs in a bid to bring in a winger on loan, with Omer Riza keen to add pace to his squad, something he thought was lacking at the start of the window.

While Cardiff have brought in a striker and a central midfielder, they are yet to recruit a wing option, which was top of the manager's priority list at the beginning of the year. A failed bid to bring in Ricky-Jade Jones from Peterborough United earlier in the window has seen Cardiff's interest in him fizzle away, with funds subsequently having been allocated elsewhere.

Riza could also lean on his contacts from coaching England at Under-17s level, with a number of those players now on the fringes of Premier League clubs. That is an avenue which Cardiff could well tap into. Sign up to our daily Cardiff City newsletter here.

Where Cardiff look to strengthen beyond a winger is not yet certain. They are pretty well stocked in most areas of the pitch now, with the arrival of Mannsverk something of a surprise for many, given the options the Bluebirds currently have in the middle of the pitch.

Wing-backs are one potential are where City are perhaps a little light, although the emergence of Andy Rinomhota in that right-back role. An injury to Callum O'Dowda forced Perry Ng into playing at left-back at the weekend, with Joel Bagan out with illness – perhaps that is a consideration for the Bluebirds manager.

As for outgoings, a few loan exits are in the offing. Kion Etete is of interest to a number of League One clubs, however WalesOnline understands Bolton are currently leading that particular race, with Cardiff keen to get the forward out and scoring goals again after being injured for the first half of the campaign.

Etete's contract runs out at the end of the season, however if Cardiff offer him a contract then they will be entitled to compensation in the summer should he reject it, because he is under 24.

The club are also hoping for Michael Reindorf to seal a loan move away before the deadline. League Two clubs and some in League One have shown interest in the teenager, who has been prolific for Cardiff's under-21s this season. The club hope a good loan over the next few months could really set the 19-year-old up for a battle for first-team contention next term, with Notts County, chasing promotion in League Two, said to be big admirers.

Jamilu Collins is also a player who could leave before the window closes. Cardiff would ideally like a permanent transfer away from the club for the Nigerian, who has been frozen out of the squad this season and has played just twice since Riza took the reins.

The left-back is not in Riza's plans moving forward, it is understood, however tentative interest from abroad has not materialised into anything concrete just yet.
