Chelsea to take summer spending past £150m with signing of Samu Omorodion

Chelsea are ready to take their summer incomings to around £150million after agreeing a £35m deal to sign Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion.

The 20-year-old has agreed terms on a seven-year contract as part of a move that is separate to the deal which will see Conor Gallagher join Atletico for a similar fee.

Omorodion is part of the Spain squad that has reached the Gold medal match at the Olympics in Paris and Chelsea believe he has huge potential.

He is tall, quick, physically imposing and scored eight goals in 35 LaLiga appearances last season on loan at Alaves.

Chelsea have already spent more than £100m this summer on Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Filip Jorgensen, Omari Kellyman, Renato Veiga, Caleb Wiley, Marc Guiu and Tosin Adarabioyo.

The Blues have offset those incomings with the sales of Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall and Omari Hutchinson, which have generated around £90m. They have also released Hakim Ziyech, Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva.

Chelsea have had interest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen but it remains to be seen if they will pursue a move for him now they have agreed a deal for Omorodion.
