Manchester United-linked Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku is, reportedly, not interested in joining any club on a temporary loan deal before the January window slams shut.

Recent reports have argued that United are "discussing" the prospect of signing the Chelsea attacker on loan for the remainder of the season. Following the exit of Antony to Real Betis on loan, and given the possibility that Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho could still depart, The Manchester Evening News reported, earlier this month, United are "open" to recruiting a striker.

Nkunku, meanwhile, has had limited opportunities under Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge this season - starting just three Premier League matches. Although Nkunku has, reportedly, indicated he would be willing to join United this month, the Frenchman only wants a permanent transfer, or a loan deal that would include an obligation to buy.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that stance, with the journalist telling his YouTube followers: "The other option for Christopher Nkunku is Manchester United, this was something discussed at the beginning of the market.

"But my understanding is that Nkunku, at the moment, is not that open to a straight loan.

"So when you see reports of Christopher Nkunku going on loan to United, if it's a loan with obligation, a permanent transfer, Christopher Nkunku could be open [to that]. If it's a straight loan or not guaranteed the obligation, at this moment, I'm not sure this deal could happen. But, for sure, United and Chelsea will be in touch this week to discuss opportunities, but the Nkunku situation is not that easy in terms of formula."

Meanwhile, The Athletic have claimed that Chelsea "do not envisage" their forward leaving Stamford Bridge before the transfer deadline at 11pm on February 3. Bayern Munich have also declared their interest but a potential deal for them hinges on Mathys Tel's proposed exit.
