Manchester United will now have to wait until the summer transfer window to make any major signings for Ruben Amorim.

The January transfer window shut on Monday, February 3 with deadline day passing without any major incident. Bayern Munich's Mathys Tel and Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku were targets heading into the chaotic final day but the former chose to U-turn and join Tottenham Hotspur while the Blues were never interested in letting the Frenchman leave on loan.

As such, United decided to let the deadline pass without making anymore incomings after bringing Arsenal's Ayden Heaven and Lecce's Patrick Dorgu in over the weekend. MEN Sport understands that the Reds were happy not to bring in a forward on deadline day as they would prefer to save their money for the summer transfer window.

United had no intention of signing players who were short term fixes and as such were happy to allow the window to close despite both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee being in poor form. With the Reds holding onto their money until the summer, the big question is when does the window open.

Well, United will have to wait until Thursday, June 12 before they can start spending their money. The final round of matches in the Premier League will be played on Sunday, May 25 so United will have two-and-a-half weeks after the season finishes to start making moves.

Unlike January, United will have a lot longer to plot their business with the window slamming shut at 11pm on Friday, August 29. Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres is expected to be a top target for the Reds when the summer window opens.
