Egyptian media claims Mohamed Salah has rejected bold Liverpool contract offer
Mohamed Salah has reportedly turned down an offer from Liverpool to renew his contract on vastly reduced terms.
It is reported by Egyptian outlet Masrawy that the Reds are concerned about offering Salah a multi-year deal on similar terms to the ones he is currently on, and that they would only be willing to give him two or three years if he agrees to take a significant pay cut.
It is Liverpool's policy to tread carefully when it comes to signing and offering contract renewals to players over 30, so it is no surprise that negotiations are at an impasse considering Salah will be 33 when his current deal ends, is the Reds' highest-paid player, and wants an offer of two or three years in order to renew.

Seemingly the only way that the Reds would willing to offer Salah similar terms to the ones he is currently on, is if he were to accept a one-year extension, but that is not something the Egyptian is currently entertaining.
Salah has been excellent form so far this season, already racking up 40 direct goal contributions, with 23 goals and 17 assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.
The Egyptian's most recent goal came in the 4-1 victory over Ipswich on Saturday, but some of the post-match focus was on his work-rate, rather than his goal, after he helped to win the ball back shortly before Cody Gakpo's second strike of the afternoon.
"It's nice to be asked about it because mostly about Mo, the questions are about his contract or his goals, but now it's his defensive work-rate," Slot said.
"I think that stood out today because we could all see the moment. If you look at almost all the times we have lost the ball, I saw a reaction off many players and that's what you need against a team with fast wingers, with a good No 9 that goes to a low block.
"It's so difficult to control a counter-attack and the only way to do it is what Mo did. That's why I was pleased with the performance today."
