Liverpool target 'spotted' at Anfield to fuel speculation over late January transfer
Liverpool’s emphatic 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town may have offered a glimpse into potential last-minute January transfer plans.
The Reds secured their 16th Premier League win of the season in dominant fashion, but attention has shifted to off-pitch matters. Reports on social media claim that there was sighting of Ajax defender Jorrel Hato at Anfield on Saturday.
A handful of accounts have sparked intrigue after reporting potential sightings of Dutch starlet at Anfield over the weekend. Whether these hints are genuine or simply speculative, they’ve added fuel to the growing rumors of Liverpool’s interest in the highly-rated defender.

The 18-year-old has been linked with a move to Merseyside since October to join compatriots Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Cody Gakpo. The Dutch defender is also said to be admired by Arsenal.
This January transfer window has once again been subdued for Liverpool, with minimal activity involving the first team. So far, three youngsters have been recalled from loans, one has been sent out again, and two academy players have departed on free transfers. However, work behind the scenes is ongoing, likely with an eye on summer reinforcements rather than any late-window surprises.
If it was Hato, he was seen sitting in the Main Stand rather than in the directors box which is were you would usually expect any new signing to sit.
Most notably, Hato has yet to reach the benchmark of 150 senior appearances—an unofficial threshold said to be often utilized by Liverpool’s recruitment team as a reliable indicator of readiness for a potential transfer. However he is not far away having already recorded 92 senior appearances for Ajax.
While the identity of the individual in question remains unconfirmed, it’s worth remembering a similar scenario last season. Lutsharel Geertruida, then a Feyenoord right-back, attended Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with West Ham before ultimately opting for a move to RB Leipzig.
Whether it’s Hato or another emerging talent on the club’s radar, Liverpool’s cautious and deliberate approach to the market this January suggests a long-term strategy aimed at reinforcing the squad in the summer window, fans will be eager to see how these plans materialize in the coming months.
