An England fan in Seville ended up in hospital on Sunday after drinking most of a bottle of sambuca.

With fans revelling in Spain, the pre-match preparations got out of hand for the supporter.

A video posted on Twitter showed the fan being taken to hospital on a stretcher after losing a battle of wills with the liqueur.

The fan and others are in Spain for Monday’s clash between Luis Enrique’s side and Gareth Southgate’s England.

The Mirror reported that the fan’s state is improving and that he would possibly be able to leave the hospital, though a friend was irritated that it had “ruined his day.”

“So annoying, have to deal with it,” the friend said.

“[He’s] just sleeping at the moment. May be able to leave soon if allowed. Just annoying.”
