There’s less than a week left now of Jürgen Klopp’s time in charge of Liverpool as he prepares for his penultimate game against Aston Villa this evening.

With their Champions League place for next season already assured and the Premier League title now out of their reach, there’s little more than pride for the Reds to play for at Villa Park. Having returned to winning ways against Tottenham last weekend though, they will want to continue that form over the two remaining games this season.

There is still plenty on the line for Liverpool’s opponents. Villa, who sit four points ahead of Spurs, can secure their place in the Champions League as well with a victory, and will no doubt be eager to put the disappointment of their Europa Conference League semi-final defeat to Olympiacos behind them.

Although plans are well underway for the post-Klopp era, Liverpool will be eager to finish off the current season in style. The Reds though do go into tonight’s game with a new injury concern.

Andy Robertson was a notable absentee from training during the week. No word has been given on any potential knock for the Scot, although there will be a significant doubt over his participation at Villa Park.

Diogo Jota also looks set to miss out once again, having not been seen in training in the build-up. It had been hoped that the Portuguese would be able to make a return before the end of the season, although he may now face a race to be fit for Klopp’s farewell against the forward's old side, Wolves.

Elsewhere, long-term absentees Joël Matip, Thiago Alcântara and Ben Doak aren’t expected to make a return before the end of the season, while Bobby Clark has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

Aside from Robertson then, it should be as you were for the squad traveling to the midlands. Virgil van Dijk managed to overcome a slight issue to retain his spot in the starting line-up against Spurs last week, and should lead the side out again here.

Darwin Núñez has certainly had an interesting week, but Klopp showed no signs of any off-the-field issues during his press conference on Friday. The Uruguay international will be aiming to end a run of eight games without a goal should he feature this evening.
