'Extremely tough' - Manchester United youngster shares farewell message after transfer exit
Youngster Ruben Curley has said it was an "extremely tough decision" to swap Manchester United for Stoke City on transfer deadline day.
With the clock ticking on Monday, Stoke made a late offer to sign the 19-year-old on a permanent deal. He has initially linked up with Stoke's Under-21s, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract.
Curley spent a decade on United's books and played a key role in the Under-18s' success last season. He made 29 appearances across all youth settings last term, scoring three goals and registering three assists.

However, his contract at Old Trafford was up at the end of this season and it is understood United did not plan to trigger the one-year extension in his deal to keep him at the club until 2026. He will now continue his development at Stoke with the ambition of breaking into the Championship club's first team.
Saying farewell to United in an Instagram post, Curley wrote: "For the past 13 years Manchester United has been my home. I've made some unforgettable memories and met some lifelong friends as well as all the amazing experiences this club has given me.
"I'd like to thank all my coaches and the staff throughout the years for supporting me in the highs and lows and developing me into the player and more importantly the person I am today. I'd also like to thank all of my teammates and I wish every single one of you the best in your journeys.
"It's been an extremely tough decision but I feel it's the right time to move on and take on new challenges. Thank you @manchesterunited and all of the fans that make this club so special.
"Once a red, always a red."
