Federico Chiesa is "madly in love" with Liverpool and the Premier League, according to a report in Italy.

The winger moved to Merseyside from Juventus last summer, as the Reds took an opportunistic punt on a player who had endured a rough couple of years.

Back in 2021, Liverpool reportedly had a nine-figure bid for Chiesa rejected by Juve, so the chance to sign the same player for a fraction of that cost last summer proved too difficult to turn down.

However, Chiesa's first few months as a Liverpool player have been anything but plain sailing, with the winger having started just one match for his new club.

His lack of game time has led to speculation linking him with a swift return to Italy, with Napoli among the clubs said to be interested as Antonio Conte searches for a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the Georgian winger who left Naples to join Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, though, says that Chiesa is really enjoying his time in England and is not yet concerned by his lack of game time under Arne Slot.

Four years ago, Chiesa was widely viewed as one of the most exciting wingers in the world, but a serious knee injury sustained in January 2022 somewhat curtailed his career, and he is yet to rediscover his very best form.

Italy's national team manager, Luciano Spalletti, said earlier this month that he would be in favor of Chiesa returning to Serie A.

“I would be very favourable towards having Chiesa back in Italian football, so I could keep him under observation, to help him settle back in at this level,” Spalletti told Vivo Azzurro TV.

“There aren’t many players who are capable of look you in the eye and break through defensive lines one-on-one.”
