Feyenoord has confirmed Arne Slot will leave this summer as he prepares to take over at Liverpool. The two clubs have reached an agreement over a compensation package for the Dutchman but an announcement has not yet been made.

Both clubs will finish their seasons on Sunday, with Feyenoord hosting Excelsior while Liverpool will bid farewell to Jürgen Klopp on what is sure to be an emotional occasion at Anfield. Slot suggested last week that his appointment would be made 'in a matter of days'.

And now Feyenoord has confirmed he will step down as head coach after Sunday's clash. The Dutch giants posted a clip on social media of his tenure, with the caption: "The Arne Slot era is coming to an end. Let's enjoy the last moments."

The montage clip also included a short message, which read: "We have made the best memories, let's enjoy the last one." Slot is due to face the media on Friday afternoon when he will likely issue an update on his future.

Slot has enjoyed great success during his time in Rotterdam. He helped the club to the Eredivisie title last season, with his side finishing second this time around. Feyenoord did lift the Dutch Cup earlier in the campaign.

It now seems it is a matter of when that Liverpool will confirm Slot's appointment. Fabrizio Romano reported that the 45-year-old will officially sign his contract with Liverpool on Friday.

One key hurdle was overcome this week with Slot's assistant Sipke Hulshoff cleared to join him at Anfield. Hulshoff was due to be part of the Netherlands set-up for the European Championships but has now stepped down from his role.

Liverpool.com says: Slot's appointment is now imminent and we are awaiting confirmation from Liverpool. It remains to be seen if the Reds will wait until after Klopp's final match on Sunday but Feyenoord has announced Slot is going. It would be the biggest shock of all if he wasn't to end up at Anfield.
